Food Survey

I've a question for you all. Here's the scenario: A good friend has offered to have a dinner for you. The only catch is you need to choose what to eat. That friend has offered to home cook or order in anything you'd like. What do you request and do you prefer this home cooked or order in?

O.k. this is where you all comment back with an idea.

Dream World: Order Ruth's Chris Steak House

Real World: Anything you prepare or choose to order would be great!

What are you looking for: If They have a specialty I'd ask them to make it... If they've been busy I'd recommend they order some chinese food or pizza... if the sky was the limit in terms of their cooking I would pick something like pot roast and mashed potatoes and veggies...

Sound good?

I too live in Melanie's dream world and order Ruth's Chris :)

But really for me the food is secondary to the company. As long as it's something I enjoy. The dinner could be Ruffles potato chips, and In-N-Out Burgers, and I'd be happy. :)

Well Cate, I suppose the real question is what do YOU want? Since the desire of your good friends heart is to make or order something YOU like...what do you like?

Is this person known for their cooking? If so, have them cook. They are making the gesture and if they love to cook, then let them cook. Think of your fave food...Italian, Mexican, Chinese...whatever and ask them if they feel comfortable with that type of cuisine. I would let them know your likes and dislikes. Very important. I knew someone who was studying to be a chef and he offered to cook dinner for a girl he was dating and he went all out. Unfortunatly, she didn't really eat any of it, because she neglected to tell him she was a vegetarian. He was very upset. Everything had meat in it. Even the salad had bacon in it. So, let them have their fun and you enjoy. But talk a little about the menu. Enjoy, lucky girl.

As long as there's pie...

I would suggest something easy to make and clean up- so you can spend most of the time visiting- Pasta is always good. Add some salad and a bit of garlic bread and PRESTO! dinner! Of course there should be pie for dessert.
